Visual Resources designs programs around, consult on, and support data management strategies, digital scholarship, and computational methods for art historical and archaeological research. In 2023, in an effort to better support the research and teaching of members of the Department of Art and Archaeology, especially graduate students, Visual Resources leads a Data and Digital Working Group. Participants in this group have an opportunity to learn about the basics of data management; vet digital tools for organizing bibliography and images; explore the complex landscape of digital image permissions; experiment with various platforms for digital exhibitions; and dive into other topics defined by the collective. These sessions have provided an opportunity for participants to hear from members of our community working on digital art historical and archaeological projects, and offer a space for participants to workshop ideas or present works in progress.
